Content of this 3D guide :

Lesson 1 - Maya Basic setup scenes for wirefusion
Lesson 2 - Installing plug-ins
Lesson 3 - Texturing and material for Wirefusion
Lesson 4 - Converting textures to baked material with maya software render
Lesson 5 - Converting textures to baked material with maya mentalray render
Lesson 6 - Exporting VRML2
Lesson 7 - Exporting X3D (VRML 97)

For this guide lessons we are working with Autodesk Maya 7.0 but you can achieve this with Maya 5.0, 6.0, 6.5 also.

To be sure you can working with Maya and Wirefusion you must check out if you can baking textures with your Maya version.

To understand rightly the goal of this guide you must be familliar with Maya and/or 3D applications, Wirefusion and know basic working with.

Lesson 6 – Exporting VRML2 :

Now the project is ready to be exported to VRML2 file format, select Edit menu and click on Export All... little box !

When Export All Options window is open (1) select File Type VRML2, (2) Be sure you select Tesselation mode to Tri, (3) Check textures and (4) click on Export All and save it into My_project folder (must be the same folder of your rendered textures!) that's all.

You can now load it into Wirefusion, as you can see the project is not coming into wirefusion 3D scenes with baked textures !

This is the main problem of the Maya VRML2 Exporter, all textures file is coming empty or with file extenssion from SGI .RGB, no way to change this until you manually add textures to your objects into Wirefusion !

If you prefer working with Maya VRML2 Exporter, you must click on texture field ... into Wirefusion and go to pickup the good texture for the selected objects, for a simple project that's ok but if you coming with complex project the best is using Rawkee X3D Exporter !

You can go now the the lesson 7 to learn how using the Rawkee X3D Exporter !.
