For strong Motion data, I advice use of Motion builder, for Muscles and Human physics I advice Maya and for Face / human motion I advice Softimage (including now FaceRobot), if you need real muscles use maya otherwise Softimage can do all you need !

>>It's true and a new version are coming with 2010 updates (3ds max 2010, maya 2010, softimage 2010, blender 2.5,...)<<

Although old, this is one of the most thorough comparisons I have seen. I would be very interested in your current thoughts, even if it is not such an exhaustive and excellent overview as your original 2007 comparison of 3D software.

C4D R14 demo has just come out and has some very interesting features (sculpt, easy camera setup for compositing with live action etc) and I am using R13 but getting tired of expensive updates.

I was surprised at how nice the interface of Blender 2.63 (I had not looked at it in a long time and gave up doing anything useful with it before). Now I wonder...

Any major thoughts on the last 5 years of updates? I assume you have been still comparing at least informally... ;-)

Thanks!
